Rabies Positive Cat in Alberta – November, 2018

It’s important to note that even though positive rabies cases are low in domestic animals, it is still present and still a risk. The only way to protect your pets is through regular vaccinations. 

In this most recent positive case from Alberta, a man and his son were bitten by their cat who displayed extreme aggression towards humans. All the right steps were taken and the proper authorities were notified, the man and his son were treated to prevent the spread of the disease. The cat was tested and was positive for the bat variant of the rabies virus.
